Crypto scammer gets caught: 5.6 million stolen

The Dutch scammer called Pieter J. is going to jail. He stole as much as 5.6 million euros from people who were going to “invest” in crypto through him. Three years ago, when he was 24 years old, he founded the company Bitnexfast. Bitnexfast was supposed to be an investment company, but it turned out to be a big scam.

Pieter’s imprisonment

He was handed a 27-month prison sentence, 12 of which were suspended. Pieter says that he is extremely sorry for the scam, although he set up a second crypto company a few months ago.

Pieter is appealing the decision, since he does not agree with his prison sentence.

With this company he would get returns for his investors through day-trading. He promised his potential clients a return of 0.5 to 1 percent per day. Customers would be able to cash out that return every day. So a great deal, but it turned out to be too good to be true.

The lesson to be learned from this, of course, is to always stay alert. Be careful who you give your money to. You can also invest yourself, for example via Huobi! By doing this you will receive a 30% discount on all trading fees.
