Binance halts deposits and withdrawals for ETH in anticipation of ‘The Merge’

To prepare for the Ethereum Merge and secure the allocation of forked tokens in the case of a chain split, Binance will suspend deposits and withdrawals for Ether and Wrapped Ether on the following networks starting from September 6, 2022 at 02:00am UTC.

The suspension will last until The Merge is complete. Deposits and withdrawals on the impacted networks will resume once the networks are deemed stable.

Which blockchain networks will be impacted?

Deposits and withdrawals of Ether – ETH and Wrapped Ether – WETH on the impacted networks will resume when the networks are deemed stable. Including, ETH on Arbitrum network, ETH on the Optimism network, WETH on the Ronin Network.

Sidenotes

The trading of ETH will not be affected during the wallet suspension. So users can still convert their ETH and withdraw or deposit in other cryptocurrencies.

Important to note is that any deposits of ETH or WETH on the impacted networks during the suspension will not be credited and are not eligible for any forked token.

Binance will reopen deposits and withdrawals after the Merge is completed and the networks are stable.
