A crypto wallet on Robinhood
CEO Tenev made these statements at CNBC’s Disruptor 50 Summit on October 21, when he was in conversation with Jim Cramer. In this conversation, he expressed his pride in the progress Robinhood is making in crypto, giving extra attention to the recent push the company made to make crypto wallets available to its users.
“A lot of people have been asking us for the ability to send and receive cryptocurrencies, transfer them to hardware wallets, transfer them onto the platform to consolidate. And you know, the crypto wallets waitlist is well over a million people now, which is very exciting.” is what he indicated in conversation with Jim Cramer. “We see an opportunity to continue growing that business.” he added.
Robinhood’s users have long indicated that they would also like to invest in crypto through the platform and are therefore eager for the company to develop its own wallet. At the moment it is not yet possible to deposit or withdraw crypto from the platform, you can only buy and sell crypto via the platform and then hold it within the platform.
On September 22, the company finally announced the creation of its own wallet. Since then a lot of hype has been generated around the platform.
