<\/span><\/p>

TerraUSD, of UST, is de stablecoin van het crypto-project Terra<\/a>. De stablecoin werd aanvankelijk ondersteund door LUNA, de coin die ook eigendom is van het Terra. De oprichter van Terra, Do Kwon, kondigde aan dat Bitcoin aan de reserves van UST zou worden toegevoegd. Sindsdien heeft Terra veel Bitcoin gekocht.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Nu wordt er nog een nieuwe cryptovaluta toegevoegd aan de reserves van UST. Na het aangaan van een partnerschap kondigt Terra zelfs aan dat het $200 miljoen aan AVAX zal kopen, dat zal gebruikt worden om UST te steunen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Wat betekent dit voor UST?<\/span><\/h2>

UST is een stablecoin, wat betekent dat de waarde van deze coin in theorie altijd gelijk blijft aan $1. In de meeste gevallen betekent dit dat voor elke 1 stabielecoin die er is, er ergens $1 "in een kluis" is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Op deze manier heeft de stablecoin een re\u00eble waarde, die niet afwijkt van $1, omdat hij daadwerkelijk $1 garandeert. Zoals het geval is met andere stablecoin's zoals Tether \/ USDT, hoewel mensen zich echter vragen stellen bij de reserves van deze stablecoin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Met UST werkt dit een beetje anders. Deze stablecoin wordt ondersteund door Luna, Bitcoin en nu Avalanche. In het verleden werd Luna altijd $1 verbrand toen 1 UST ge-mint werd, zodat de waarde van 1 UST kon altijd gelijk blijven aan $1. Nu is dit niet meer mogelijk, Terra zal Bitcoin of Avalanche niet burnen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Dus voor elke UST die ge-mint wordt, worden Bitcoin en Avalanche gekocht en in een vault geplaatst. Zodat er een werkelijke waarde is die de UST vertegenwoordigt. Hier kunnen risico's aan verbonden zijn, zoals zeer volatiele periodes, waarin de prijzen dalen en de vault plotseling 90% minder waard kan zijn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
