Recently Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, appeared on a two-hour podcast episode of the podcast Bankless. During this episode, he talked about how they are going to ensure that Eth2 will be a success.
Vitalik’s plan
For example, he explained a five-part roadmap outlining the precise steps that should ensure that Eth2 will be a success. The most important thing, he says, is to achieve the highest possible scalability and decentralization. He says that for this it is important that Ethereum becomes more agile and lightweight so that more people can use it.
Vitalik Buterin also published an article called “Endgame” at the beginning of December in 2021. In it, he predicted that eventually all blockchains will be formed into one. The tools that all blockchains offer will then also be available through this one blockchain.
- The first step in the process Vitalik calls ‘The Merge’. In this step the complete step from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake will be made.
- The second step is called the Surge. Here the scalability and bandwidth will have to be increased.
- After that, sharding will be fully implemented, bringing the process to about 80%.
- Then there is ‘The Verge’, where users can start running their own nodes.
- The final steps are ‘The Purge’ and ‘The Splurge’ which will remove historical data and make some more updates.
The whole process will take about 6 more years, Buterin estimates. Would you like to invest in Ethereum? You can! You can do this for example through Huobi. Through this link you can be the owner of your first Ethereum within 5 minutes.
