Trump calls crypto ‘disaster waiting to happen’

In an interview with Fox Business that came out today, former President of the United States, Donald Trump calls crypto a disaster waiting to happen. In this interview he was asked, for example, what his view is on the status of Wall Street, but also how he envisions the potential of Bitcoin and the crypto market as a whole. Some interesting answers followed from this.

Trump’s views on crypto

When Donald Trump was asked what his opinion was on cryptocurrency, he said, “I love the currency of the United States and I think the other units (by this he is referring to crypto) are a disaster waiting to happen. With this, he indicates no confidence in the crypto market.

He continued his answer with: ‘Maybe they are fake. Who what they really are? They are definitely units that people know pretty little about.’

In the interview, he also mentioned that protecting the sovereignty of the US Dollar is his number one priority. He considers this more important than improving the financial system, he indicated. Therefore, the benefits that crypto and blockchain bring do not interest him much.

Biden’s view on crypto

Joe Biden, the president of the United States at the moment, has a very different opinion. He is overwhelmingly more open to crypto than Donald Trump, but he too is fairly conservative.

Earlier this year, Biden appointed Gary Gensler to head the Securities and Exchange Commission. Gary Gensler is the former chairman of the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission.
