Crypto is becoming increasingly popular among companies and brands. Many brands already released their own NFTs the past year. More and more fan tokens are appearing left and right. Just like the football club FC Barcelona. According to the president of the club, Joan Laporta, the club would launch its own cryptocurrency.
In addition they would also start releasing club NFTs as well as a metaverse. This could even help the Catalan club out of its financial problems.
FC Barcelona’s crypto products
According to the popular sports media company ESPN, the club would have had many offers from large crypto companies that want to offer crypto financial services. However, all offers have been turned down. The club wants to do it completely on their own.
The reason FC Barcelona is suddenly so interested in releasing their own crypto products, is to “survive financially,” Joan Laporta points out. By this he does not mean financial survival at all, but specifically financial survival in a market, comparing themselves with numerous clubs owned by large financial institutions and/or investors. Such as; Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and Chelsea FC.
Currently nothing specific has been announced, so we don’t yet know exactly what to expect. We still do not yet know when the tokens, NFTs and metaverse will be released. Laporta does indicate that there is a lot on the agenda.
