Energy Web Foundation, Shell, Accenture and American Express work together

With the support of Energy Web Foundation – EWF, three major companies; American Express, Shell and Accenture have jointly announced the launch of Avelia.

Avelia is a blockchain-powered, sustainable aviation fuel – SAF book-and-claim solution for travel. The launch of Avelia will be the largest SAF book-and-claim pilot, with over 1 million gallons of SAF that could power almost 15,000 international business flights.

What is Book and claim? 

The book-and-claim model uses blockchain technology to ensure rewards of SAF’s environmental features to companies and airlines after they produce their flights in a sustainable way.

Airlines corporates, cargo players and business customers could simultaneously reduce emissions, while ensuring transparency and accountability.

Avelia’s data security and credibility could be the key to reach and accelerate the decarbonisation of aviation.
